From Our President I read an interesting quote in the N&O recently. Captioned "words to live by in the new year" from psychologist Geri Weitzman, something to think about if you want more satisfaction: "Sometimes you gotta create what you want to be a part of." No truer words have been spoken! It is time again to make Cary Newcomers Club what you want it to be. Executive Board nominations are now open and will be until a single slate is presented at the April General Meeting, when floor nominations are also accepted. Print out your nomination form now to get your preferences on record. You can mail in your completed form to the club PO Box or bring it to a meeting; you can also use the nominations mailbox on the website. Bylaws Review and Revision Status
The first meeting to discuss possible revisions and additions to our club Bylaws will be held on Friday, January 15th, from 10am until Noon, at Barry's Cafe. Barry's Cafe is in the Swift Creek Shopping Plaza near the Food Lion on Tryon Road at Jones Franklin Road in Raleigh (on the border of Cary).
Originally founded in 1978 and incorporated as Cary Newcomers Club, Inc on April 14, 1997, CNC has grown in many ways. Our Bylaws were amended and revised many times in the years since they were first written, most recently in 2005. Some of these changes have created ambiguities and some Bylaws were mistakenly lost or left on the editing floor.
NOW is the time to review our current Bylaws and make recommendations for changes or additions by submitting a Bylaws Suggestion form. If you would like to help on this Committee, please contact our Committee Chair ASAP.

Annual membership renewals are due on February 1st. If you'd like to renew your membership now, you may send a check for your dues to

Dues this year remain at $30. For first-time members, our dues are reduced based on the month the member joins CNC and are good through the end of January of the following year. Those joining in January, February, March, April or May pay the full amount of $30. If joining in June, July, August or September, the dues are $20. And for those joining in October, November or December, the dues are $10.
Returning members are asked to remit the full amount.
Please make sure our Membership chairperson has your complete, up-to-date contact information. We use this info for our Membership Directory and to send you our club newsletter. Our Membership Directory is issued annually, usually in the Spring. Until then, updates and additions will be published in the club newsletter, Cary Currents.
To be included in the next Membership Directory, your dues and directory updates must be received by February 28th.
